Arbor Springs is a foster site for cats that are up for adoption!

Since 2016, Arbor Springs has partnered with local animal rescues to serve as a foster site for cats needing a new home. For 10 years, Arbor Springs worked with Hope Animal Rescue as a foster site. When Hope Animal Rescue transitioned away from fostering cats in 2026, Arbor Springs began partnering with Furry Friends Refuge, a West Des Moines rescue.

This relationship also includes a partnership with Valley High School’s Transition Team. During the school year, students come weekly to help maintain the Cat Condo, teaching them valuable life-long skills. From time to time, in true Montessori Inspired Lifestyle fashion, you may see a resident helping feed the cat or maintain the Cat Condo.

Over the decade, countless cats have been fostered and adopted. Residents, students, staff, and family members have experienced countless moments of joy with the cats. The impact on quality of life for our residents has been immeasurable.
